Cowgirl Tennis Wraps Up Weekend With A Victory

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team finished up their road trip with a 6-1 win over the Creighton Blue Jays, on Sunday, in Omaha, Neb. The Cowgirls improve to 2-1 overall, while the Blue Jays fall to 0-3 overall.

In doubles play, the Cowgirls earned the point by winning two out of three matches. The number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko fell to the team of Chiu and Cavan, 8-3, but the team of Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien ousted the team of Deidre Senders and Jennifer Burge, 8-4, at the No. 2 spot and the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser closed it out with an 9-8 win over Elizabeth Hurley and Shannon Whelan.

Singles play was also dominated by the Cowgirls as they took five of six matches led by Karolina Rowinski as she defeated 6-3, 7-6. Junior Patricia Chien beat Jennifer Burge in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at the third spot. Kim Romero won 6-0, 6-1 over Elizabeth Hurley while Andrea House and Michelle Romero both won in straight sets over their opponents. Corina Lazar unfortunately lost a close three set match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 against Katie Chiu.
