The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team closed out their weekend with a 7-0 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday morning in Lincoln, Neb. With the loss, the Cowgirls drop to 2-2 on the spring season, while the Cornhuskers remain undefeated at 5-0 overall.
In doubles action, the Huskers earned the point winning two of the three matches. The No. 1 team of Jennifer Hancock and Yuliani Santi defeated Leslie Harvey and Rose Ketmayura, 9-7. At the No. 2 spot, the team of Anna Oehme and Milena Schulz-Gartner defeated Karolina Rowinski and Amy Senko, 8-2, while the team of Patricia Chien and Gwen Moser fell to Katie Garcia and Gitte Ostermann, 8-6
Singles play was also dominated by Nebraska led by Milena Schulz-Gartner in the No. 1 spot with her two set victory, 6-4, 6-2, over Patricia Chien. At the No. 2 spot, Leslie Harvey defeated Karolina Rowinski, 6-1, 6-3, Anna Oehme beat Jennifer Hancock, 7-5, 6-2, and sophomore Pamela Castillejos picked up a win at No. 4 singles, defeating Yuliani Santi, 6-3, 6-4. The Cornhuskers closed out the victory with Katie Garcia defeating Amy Senko, 6-1, 6-2, and Jennifer Cremieux earning a two set win, 6-0, 6-2, over Andrea House.
The Cowgirls will only have one match this week as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to take on Army Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
