The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team (3-2 overall, 1-0 in the MWC) earned a close 4-3 victory over the Drake Bulldogs on Saturday in Lincoln.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls won all three matches to earn the team point. The number one UW team of Rebecca Berger and Corina Lazar defeated Veronika Leszayova and Irina Kalshnikova, 8-5, while Wyoming's Michelle Brown and Carly Van Hollen earned a close 9-8 (5) over Sarah Plowman and Kari Sloboth. The Cowgirl team of Jamie Nelson and Brittany DeFelice closed it out with a 9-8 (4) victory against Adela Aprodu and Daria Zawislak.
Wyoming then took three singles matches to pull out the victory. At the number two spot, Berger defeated Kalashnikova, 6-4, 6-4, while Sarah Summerfield beat Plowman, 7-6 (8), 7-5. DeFelice closed things out with a two set win, 6-3, 6-3, against Zawislak.
Wyoming will finish the weekend with a 10:00 a.m. match on Sunday against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Neb.
