The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team (3-3 overall, 1-0 in the MWC) lost 7-0 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday in Lincoln.
In doubles play, the Cornhuskers won all three matches to take the point. The number one UW team of Rebecca Berger and Corina Lazar lost to Jana Albers and Imke Reimers, 8-3, while Wyoming's Michelle Brown and Carly Van Hollen lost to Maria Ring and Wiveca Swarting, 8-1. The Cowgirl team of Jamie Nelson and Brittany DeFelice were defeated by Amber Chandronnait and Jana Evans, 8-1.
Nebraska also went a perfect 6-0 in the singles matches as well. Reimers earned a two set win, 6-0, 6-0, against Lazar. At the number two spot, Berger fell to Swarting, 6-2, 7-5, while Sarah Summerfield lost to Chandronnait, 6-0, 6-2. Albers earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Van Hollen and Brown lost, 6-0, 6-2, against Stephanie Evans. Ring closed things out with a 4-6, 6-1, (10-2) win over Nelson.
Wyoming will host their first match of the spring against the Montana State Lady Cats, on Friday, February 15. The match is set to start at 9:00 a.m. at the UW Tennis Complex.
