The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team dropped their second match of the weekend to the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday morning in Las Cruces, N.M. The Cowgirls are now 2-3 overall in match play.
In doubles play, the Aggies earned the point by winning all three matches. The number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko fell to Lejla Porobic and Sandra Mayr, 8-6. NMSU's Fintell and Rollet ousted Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot, while the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser came up short against Isabelle Mignot and Anne Fagegaltier, 8-4.
The Cowgirls also fell short as New Mexico State took five of the six singles matches led by Isabelle Mignot with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Patricia Chien. Sophomore Karolina Rowinski battled until the end but was defeated 6-2, 6-1 by Lejla Porobic at the second spot. The Aggies Fanny Rollet won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 over freshman Corina Lazar, while Amy Senko fell 6-4, 6-0 to Nicole Fintell at the No. 4 spot. Michelle Brown also fell 6-1, 6-0 in her match against Violaine Rollet. The only Cowgirl to come away with a win was sophomore Andrea House with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Anne Fagegaltier.
Wyoming will wrap up play tomorrow against UT-San Antonio at 10:00 a.m. in El Paso, Texas.
