The Wyoming women's tennis team won their final match of the weekend with a 4-3 victory over the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday morning in Portland, Oregon. The Cowgirls now improve to 4-3 overall in dual play, while the Broncos drop to 2-4 on the season.
Wyoming took the doubles point as two of three Cowgirl duos came away with victories. The No. 1 team of Jennifer Hancock and Yuliani Santi pulled out a 9-8 victory over Catherine Cochrane and Casey Knutson, while Andrea House and Patricia Chien earned an 8-5 win againstJanalle Kaloi and Nichol Jackson. The team of Karolina Rowinski and Amy Senko unfortunately came up short in their match against Erika Barnes and Nicole Jackson, 8-4. In singles play, three Cowgirls earned victories on the day. Senior Yuliani Santi earned a two set win, 6-4, 6-1, over Catherine Cochrane at the No. 2 spot. Karolina Rowinski won her match, 6-4, 6-2, over Kelly Leathers as did Andrea House, 6-1, 6-3, over Jessie Strunk. Santa Clara's Janalle Kaloi earned a three set win against Patricia Chien, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4, while Casey Knutson defeated Jennifer Hancock 7-6, 6-3. At the No. 5 spot, freshman Amy Senko battled until the end but came up short in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, (10-5), against Kim Daniel.
The Cowgirls will now be off until March 5 when they travel to Bozeman, Montana to face the Montana State Bobcats.
