The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team finished up their road trip with a 6-1 win over the UTSA Roadrunners, on Sunday, in El Paso, Texas. The Cowgirls improve to 3-3 overall.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls earned the point by winning all three matches. The number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko defeated Massiel Martinez and Barbara Mooney, 9-7, while Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinski won easily, 8-1, against Nadezda Rossikhina and Ana Paula Soto. The third team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser earned a victory by default.
Singles play was also dominated by the Cowgirls as they took five of six matches led by Patricia Chien as she earned a hard fought victory in three sets, 7-5, 6-7 (5), (10-3) win over Nadezda Rossikhina. Corina Lazar defeated Barbara Mooney, 6-3, 6-4, along with Andrea House defeating Ana Paula Soto, 6-3, 6-1. Amy Senko won 6-3, 6-3 against Rachel Hansen while Gwen Moser won by default in her sixth spot match. Karolina Rowinski unfortunately lost a close three set match, 7-5, 5-7, (10-2) against Massiel Martinez.
The Cowgirls will continue play next week against Eastern Washington and Portland, on Feb. 25 and 26th, in Portland, Oregon.
