The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team opened up the weekend with a strong 7-0 victory against the Eastern Washington Eagles. The Cowgirls improve to 4-3 overall, while the Eagles fell to 0-4 overall.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls earned the point by winning two out of three matches. Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien ousted the team of Jennifer Jolley and Jenny Anderson, 8-1, at the No. 2 spot, while the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser wrapped up an 8-5 win over Kim Cabiling and Leslie Liddell. Unfortunately, the number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko fell to Kasey Knox and Sayaka Yoshimoto, 8-4.
Singles play was also dominated by the Cowgirls as they took all six matches led by junior Patricia Chien who won easily, 6-0, 6-1, over Kasey Knox. Sophomore Karolina Rowinski had an easy time, 6-0, 6-0, over Sayaka Yoshimoto at the second spot. Corina Lazar also won 6-0, 6-0 over Jennifer Jolley while Amy Senko won 6-1, 6-0 against Kim Cabiling. The Cowgirls closed out the match with Andrea House taking her match 6-0, 6-1 over Jenny Anderson, and Michelle Brown winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, against Sherry Donaldson.
Wyoming wraps up the weekend on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. against the Portland Pilots in Portland.
