The University of Wyoming CowgirlTennis team competed Saturday against the Northern Iowa Panthers inColorado Springs, Colorado. The Panthers pulled out anail-biter of a match by a score of 5-4.
Sarah Kay,Shirley Mendoza and Sofi Espinosa won their singles matches for the Cowgirls, while MelanieRoberts, Angela Dossetor, and Paulina del Monte lost to their opponentsin tight matches. Both Sarah Kay and Shirley Mendoza went into threematches to pull out victories for the Cowgirls.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls won one and lost two. Melanie Robertsand Angela Dossetor in No. 1 doubles, had a tough match and lost to AmieCrowley and Carrie Amsbaugh 8-5. In No. 2 doubles, Sarah Kay andShirley Mendozaplayed a tough match, but lost 8-6, while at No. 3 doubles, Espinosa anddel Monte won with a score of 8-4.

"It was a really tough loss. The girls were scrapping for everythingand I really thought that they were giving it all they had.
"Big wins coming out of Sarah and Shirley in singles, they stepped upand got two wins when we needed them. Their doubles match was tough,they were both frustrated with the loss.
