A day after falling toMontana State, the University of Wyoming women's tennisteam rebounded to down the University of Montana 5-2 in dualplay in Bozeman, Mont.
With the win the Cowgirls improved 3-4 on the season aheadof Sunday's dual with Gonzaga in Bozeman. Play is slatedto begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Bobcat Tennis Center.
UW swept all three doubles matches. The number-one duo ofJenny Bowman and Jennifer Hancock beat Sarah Blain andAnnabelle Janairo 8-4 to improve to 9-3 on the season,UW's Yuliani Santi and Paulina del Monte topped LindseyTorgerson and Misha Zima 9-7 at the number-two spot and ToniTerhaar and Kati Gyulai won by an 8-6 count over AshlidFjeldheim and Megan Fischer at the number-three position.
"We finally won the doubles point," Cowgirl coach PamWildt said. "That took a lot of pressure off and we hadalmost a perfect performance in singles. The girls were veryintense and they really wanted it."
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, the top of theCowgirl lineup took care of business. Bowman won at thenumber-one spot to move to 11-3 on the season. Her victorywas followed by wins at the number-two spot by Santi, thenumber-three spot by Hancock and del Monte's win atnumber-four.
The Grizzlies rallied to take the number-five and sixmatches for their only points.
