Cowgirl Tennis Falls 5-2 To Denver

Laramie, Wyo. -- The University of Wyomingwomen's tennis team's two-match winning streak wassnapped in a 5-2 defeat to the homestanding Denver PioneersSaturday.

Originally scheduled to be played at Denver's StapeltonTennis Pavillion, the match was played indoors at HeatherRidge Racquet Club due to inclement weather.

The Pioneers took all three doubles-matches. Barbara Kourimand Yanick Dullens topped Cowgirls Jenny Bowman and JenniferHancock 9-7 at the number-one spot. Stephanie Ginsburg andRossi Thomas won at the number-two position with an 8-4decision over Yuliani Santi and Paulina del Monte and innumber-three doubles, Elizabeth Matthews and Maru Altamiranobeat Kati Gyulai and Toni Terhaar 8-4.

With the doubles point in hand Denver took four of sixsingles matches. Bowman led the way for UW, running herwinning streak to five matches with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) victoryover Dullens at the number-one spot. Del Monte also pickedup a win, defeating Matthews 6-3, 6-1 in number-foursingles.

Wyoming, now 4-5 on the season, next takes to the courtMarch 13 with a dual in Cheyenne versus SMU.
