Wyoming Tennis Swept By Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii -

The Cowgirls continued play with their third match of the week in Honolulu and suffered a 7-0 loss against the University of Hawaii, on Wednesday night.

Wyoming won only one doubles match, therefore Hawaii earned the doubles point. The team of Rebecca Berger and Jamie Nelson defeated Melinda Wong and Aglae Van den Berge, 8-7 (3). In the number one spot, Sarah Summerfield and Carly Van Hollen lost to Anja-Vanessa Peter and Sophie Kobuch, 8-3.

The Cowgirls struggled in singles play. Sarah Summerfield lost to Sophie Kobuch, 7-5, 6-3 in the number one spot. Rebecca Beger fell to Anja-Vaness Peter in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, as did Carly Van Hollen who lost against Melinda Wong, 6-3, 6-1. In the number four spot Carolina Chaix lost to Aglae Van den Bergh, 6-0, 6-2. The Rainbow Warriors closed the match out with Alyssa Nafarrete earning a 6-4, 6-2, win over Jamie Nelson.

The Cowgirls have a Thursday off before competing in their final match of the week against the University of Arizona Wildcats on Friday, March 20. The match is set to start at 2:00 p.m. MT in Honolulu.
