Cowgirl Tennis Team Falls to Texas Christian 7-0

The University of Wyoming women'stennis team lost to Texas Christian University 7-0 Monday in Ft. Worth,Tex. Wyoming won one doubles match but was swept in singles action.

TCU, ranked #30 in the country, won two of the three doubles matches toearn the one doubles team point. In the No. 3 doubles match the UW teamof Paulina del Monte and Toni Terhaar defeated TCU's Leoni Weirich andBrenna Shackelford 8-6. But TCU won the other two doubles matches toearn the team point.

In singles action the Cowgirls were swept in the six matches. Theclosest match came at the No. 4 singles spot, where Wyoming freshmanStacy Kneese lost to Saber Pierce 3-6, 6-3 (11-9). The match went tothe tiebreaker set, where Kneese fell just short.

"This was our first match outside," said Wyoming head coach Pam Wildt."Playing against a top team like TCU made it difficult. Our doublesteams actually played very well and we were able to win one of thematches. But this was a good experience for us and we'll prepare fortwo more matches this week."
