Cowgirl Tennis Team Falls to Air Force 6-1

The University of Wyoming tennisteam lost to Air Force 6-1 Saturday in Colorado Springs.

Freshman Stacy Kneese was the only Cowgirl to win her singles match inthe dual, which was the first conference dual of the season forWyoming. Kneese, from Montrose, Colo., won her match at the No. 3singles slot to earn UW its only team point.

The Wyoming doubles team of Jenny Bowman and Angela Dossetor won theirmatch in a three-set tiebreaker 9-8. Air Force won the other twodoubles matches to earn the doubles team point.

"We actually started off pretty well," said Wyoming head coach PamWildt. "Both Jenny Bowman and Sofi Espinosa won the first set in theirsingles matches and things were looking good for us. But they bothended up losing in three-set matches that put the momentum back in AirForce's favor. It was our first conference match and I'm pleased withhow the girls played. Now we just need to get ready for New Mexico onSunday."

With the loss Wyoming's overall record dropped to 4-8 and 0-1 in theMountain West Conference. Complete individual results were notavailable. The Cowgirls return to action on Sunday against New Mexicoat 10:00 a.m. in Colorado Springs.
