The University of Wyoming Cowgirltennis team was in Ft. Collins, Colo. today to take on the CSU Rams.Wyoming jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but could not win anothermatch, allowing CSU to win 7-2. Colorado State improved their recordto 10-9 with the win, while the Cowgirls dropped to 8-10 in dual matches.
The match started with singles and two seniors, Melanie Roberts andSarah Kay, got the onlytwo wins for the Cowgirls. Both matches went into three sets, withRoberts coming back from losing the first set to win the next two, whileKay won the firstset, lost the second and finally finished the match with a score of6-2 in the third set.
In doubles the Cowgirls couldn't find a win. However in No.2 doublesSarah Kay and Sofi Espinosa lost their match in a tie breaker, 9-8. Theother two doubles teams lost 8-3 and 8-4.
The Cowgirls will now face a very tough UNLV team on Tues. at 2:00 pm inLas Vegas, NV. They will then stay in Las Vegas to compete in the firstever Mountain WestConference Tennis Championships on April 27th - 29th.
