PROVO, Utah -
Sophomore Dorottya Jonas came up short in the finals of the singles back draw as the Cowgirl tennis team wrapped up play at the BYU Invitational, on Saturday, in Provo.
Jonas reached the finals after a three-set win, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 victory over Katie Fitt of BYU. Unfortunately, she would fall 6-3, 6-4 against Savannah Ware in the last match of the day. Ware reached the finals after defeating senior Christa Gecheva, 6-2, 6-4 earlier in the day.
"We had a good start to the year this weekend," head coach Dean Clower said. "The team got better each day and that's all we can ask for. The newcomers seem to have bought in to our philosophy and now it's up to us as a staff to teach them. It was a pleasure watching the ladies compete this weekend, but now it's time to get back to work on Monday."
Wyoming will return to action next Friday, Sept. 26, as they travel to the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs.
