The University of Wyoming tennis team competed in the second day of the Doctors Vision Center Invitational at UNC Wilmington. The Cowgirls won two big matches but dropped seven others. The two Cowgirl victories moved Yuliani Santi and Megan Williams into the finals of the consolation brackets of the Flight-B and Flight-C singles tournament. In Flight A singles action, senior Kati Gyulai lost to Lindsay Peel of UNC-Greensboro in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. She will play her final match of the tournament Sunday morning at 9:30. Junior Jen Hancock lost in the semi-finals of the consolation bracket to Maggie Patterson of Davidson by scores of 6-4, 6-3. She will play Sunday morning at 9:30 for third place of the consolation bracket. In Singles-Flight B action, junior Yuliani Santi beat Jenna Marks of the College of Charleston 6-2, 6-2. With the win she advances to the finals of the consolation bracket, which will take place Sunday morning at 8:00. Megan Williams also advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket with her win over Courtney Clifford of UNC-Charlotte, in Flight C action. The championship match will take place Sunday morning at 9:30. She will play Stephanie Koot of Coastal Carolina. Koot advanced to the finals by defeating Cowgirl freshman Patricia Chien in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Chien will play for third place in the consolation bracket Sunday at 9:30 am. Both Cowgirl doubles teams struggled Saturday and came out on the losing end of two matches. The team of Gyulai and Chien lost two matches to teams from the UNC-Wilmington and UNC-Charlotte. The team of Hancock and Santi lost two matches as well. They fell to teams from the College of Charleston and UNC-Greensboro. Sunday will be the final day of competition at the Doctors Vision Center Invitational in Wilmington, North Carolina.
