The University of Wyoming tennis team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Doctors Vision Center Invitational in Wilmington, N.C. Two Cowgirls completed their singles play with victories, but all three doubles teams came up short. In Flight A competition, junior Jen Hancock came away with a 6-1, 7-6 (8) victory over Ashleigh Murray of UNC Charleston for a third place finish in the consolation bracket, while freshman Patricia Chien was also victorious in her third place match with a 6-0,6-0 win against Courtney Clifford of UNC Charleston, in Flight C play. Yuliani Santi fell short in her bid for the Flight B consolation championship with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Carlin Kannan of UNC Greensboro, as did freshman Megan Williams, 6-1, 6-0, against Stephanie Koot of Coastal Carolina. In doubles play, the team of Hancock and Santi fell to Hatch and Murray of UNC Charleston, 8-5, while Gyulai and Chien lost 8-2 against Orllana and Peel of UNC Greensboro in the Flight A consolation bracket. Freshman Megan Williams playing with Natalie King of UNC Wilmington came up short in their bid for a third place finish in the Flight B consolation bracket, 8-4, to Koot and Younger of Coastal Carolina.
The Cowgirls will continue tournament play next weekend at the USAFA Invitational, Sept. 27-29, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
