The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team wrapped up their second day of competition as the host of the Wyoming Invitational in Laramie.
Competing only in singles action on Saturday, the Cowgirls swept all seven matches from Northern Colorado. UW freshman Sarah Summerfield defeated Karen Groll, 6-1, 6-2, while Cowgirl Corina Lazar earned a hard fought three set match, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (12-10) over Meredith Krystofik. Wyoming senior Karolina Rowinski defeated Renee Nuccio, 6-0, 6-1, along with fellow senior Amy Senko, 6-2, 6-3 over Luiza Xavier. Cowgirl Andrea House had an easy time over Hannah LaForest, 6-1, 6-1, while it took UW's Michelle Brown three sets, 1-6, 7-6 (7), 1-0 (10-5), over Christina Shelly. In a pro set, Wyoming freshman Carolina Chaix defeated Jessica Laco, 8-1.
"I am very pleased with our play through out the entire weekend,' said head coach Krissy Hall. "Today we played extremely well in singles play as we continue to improve as a team. Overall I was happy with the way everything went."
The Cowgirls will resume regular fall tournament action on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs.
