Stencel followed up her epic match from yesterday with a three-set victory, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, over Natalie Heffron of Colorado State. In the Bravo flight, Jonas also needed three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, to come away with the win over Julie Gauguery of Arkansas State.
Nastya Tokareva fell short in her title bid with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 loss against Christine Guerrazzi of Miami (OH). Senior Silviya Zhelyazkova came up short in three-sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, against Chloe Forlini of Air Force as did freshman Cecilia Mercier, 6-2, 6-4, against Ana Rajkovic of Miami (OH). The final Cowgirl in action was senior Christa Gecheva who fell to Lea Krajcovicova in two sets, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, the Cowgirls finished 1-2 on the day to close out the tournament. Jonas and Mercier defeated Hoolahan and Walters-West of Northern Colorado, 8-3. The team of Gecheva and Stencel lost to Thurman and Shteyn of Miami (OH), 8-3, in the finals of the back draw, while Takerova and Zhelyazkova fell short, 8-7 (4), against Costa and Porter of Colorado State.
Wyoming will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships, in Albuquerque, N.M.
