Cowgirl Tennis Continues Play At Air Force Invitational

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continued play at the Air Force Invitational, on Saturday, in Colorado Springs.

In singles play, two players earned their way into finals play on Sunday. Sasa Nemcova defeated Sophie Chang (Harvard), 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, as did Paloma Navarro over Louise Laciny (Harvard), 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. Sarah Summerfield earned a straight set win, 6-2, 6-1, over Katrina Erimon (Air Force) and will play Laura Neal of CSU tomorrow.

Other players in action, Kim van Ginkel lost to Missy Harris, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 as did Rebecca Bergaer, 6-2, 6-1, against Shannon Young (AFA). Carly Van Hollen also fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles play, all four teams were in action today. The team of Berger and Kovacs earned a spot in the finals tomorrow with victories over Wojakowska and Mulhern of Colorado State, 8-3, and Sibilski and Laciny of Harvard, 8-2. Navarro and Sanders (CU) earned an 8-3 win over Conley and Young of Air Force, but fell to Rudico and Molina (AFA), 8-4. Sasa Nemcova and Kim van Ginkel fell to Maughan and Monson (Utah), 9-8 (6).

Both singles and doubles action will conclude tomorrow.
