The University of Wyoming tennis team closed out their weekend in both singles and doubles play the Air Force Invitational, on Saturday, in Colorado Springs.
UW sophomore Jamie Nelson continued to play well as she defeated Ashley Ebbert of Cornell, 6-3, 6-4, in the finals of flight eight. Wyoming freshman Carolina Chaix defeated Manar Al-Jazzaf of Colorado State, 6-4, 7-5, to take third place in her flight as did Cowgirl Andrea House with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nishe Suda of Cornell and UW's Sarah Summerfield defeating Lauren Strasburger of Colorado State, 6-2, 7-5. Wyoming junior Corina Lazar earned a two set win, 6-1, 7-5, against Kasia Prenata of Cornell to take fifth place. Cowgirl senior Amy Senko won her seventh place match, 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (10-3) against Hanna LaForest of Northern Colorado, while UW's Michelle Brown defeated her opponent Alex Tjioe of Memphis 6-0, 6-1.
In flight four doubles play, Brown and Senko won both of their matches on Saturday with an 8-4 win over Hanna LaForest and Luiza Xavier of Northern Colorado and an 8-2 victory against Flavia Russo and Amanda Brown of Memphis. The team of Chaix and Nelson took second place in flight five as they defeated Christina Macey of Colorado and Manar Al-Jassaf of Colorado State, 8-5. Seniors House and Rowinski fell to Melissa Esposito and Franziska Jendrian of Colorado, 8-1, but rebounded with an 8-6 win over Catherine Duboc and Shayna Miller of Cornell. The Cowgirls wrapped up doubles play with Lazar and Summerfield being defeated by Torres and Almagno of Colorado, 8-2, but they came back with a win, 8-6, over Laura Neal and Lauren Strasburger of Colorado State.
