Wyoming Tennis Doubles Team Reaches Finals

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -

The doubles team of Veronica Popovici and Simona Synkova will play in the finals tomorrow of the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament after winning both matches on Saturday in Las Vegas.

In their quarterfinal match, they defeated Megan Price and Megan Sheehan-Dixon of BYU, 8-1. They followed that up with an 8-4 victory against Callie Craig and Anastasia Putilina (Utah). They will face Lauren Pelchat and Heather Davidson of Montana. The match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time.

More than 120 women's collegiate tennis players are competing this week at UNLV as one of the 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over these last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country. The singles and doubles champions from the regionals will advance to the 2011 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 3-6, at the indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
