LAS VEGAS, Nev. -

Veronica Popovici and Simona Synkova won the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional Doubles title on the final day of play of the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament in Las Vegas.

They earned an 8-2 victory against the team of Lauren Pelchat and Heather Davidson from Montana. With that win, the team will now move on to the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, taking place November 3-6, at the indoor facilities at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

"We came to Regionals to win it and that's what we did," said head coach Kati Gyulai. "We played disciplined throughout the tournament and got better with each round. We are excited to represent the region at the Indoor Nationals in New York."

More than 120 women's collegiate tennis players competed this week at UNLV as one of the 24 USTA/ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women taking place over the last two weekends of October at campuses throughout the country.
