This Week: The University of Wyoming women's tennis team won't returnto action until Feb. 9-11 at the Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kan.
Cowgirls Ranked #15 in Central Region: Wyoming begins the spring seasonranked #15 in the Central Region according to the latest ITA rankings.The Cowgirls are tied with Missouri and Colorado State at the #15 spot.There are a total of 32 teams in the Central Region.
Wyoming to Host Two More Duals: The 2001 spring season will see theCowgirls host two more home duals. On Feb. 22 Wyoming will host BowlingGreen in Cheyenne at the Frontier Tennis Club before hosting their onlyspring dual in Laramie on March 4 against Montana State. The Cowgirlswon their only home match of the fall season when they beat NorthernColorado 9-0 in Laramie. Wyoming will also face all seven Mountain WestConference foes in the spring season. The Mountain West Championshipswill take place April 26-28 in Ft. Collins.
Cowgirls Fall to Denver 5-2: The University of Wyoming lost to theUniversity of Denver Saturday in Cheyenne 5-2. The match was held atthe Frontier Tennis Club and was the first of the spring for Wyoming.The Cowgirls fell behind early as Denver won all three doubles matches,giving the Pioneers an early 1-0 team score lead. A team must wintwo-of-three doubles matches to earn one team point. Wyoming won twosingles matches. In the No. 4 singles match Cowgirl freshman ToniTerhaar defeated Rossi Thomas 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 in a hard-fought match.UW's other win came in the No. 5 match, where senior Angela Dossetordefeated Beth Messaros 7-5, 7-6. The dual against Denver marked thefirst match of the spring season for the Cowgirl program. It was thefourth match of the spring for Denver.
