For the first time in her career, redshirt freshman Magdalena Stencel has been selected the Mountain West Tennis Player of the Week. It's the first time since April 3, 2013 that a Cowgirl tennis player has been awarded such honors.

Stencel, a redshirt freshman from Sopot, Poland went 3-1 overall last week helping the Cowgirls to wins over Cal State Fullerton (5-2) and Cal State Northridge (4-3). She defeated Alexis Valenzuela of CSF, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles position. She and partner Jessica Parizher went 2-0 with wins over the Fullerton duo of Pham and Valenzuela, 6-2, following that up with a 6-3 win over Lin and Rodriguez of Cal State Northridge.

She currently has an overall record of 15-10 in singles play and has won six out of her last eight matches. In doubles action, she and Parizher have gone 5-5 this spring.

The Cowgirls are currently 8-5 overall and on a three-match winning streak. Wyoming will begin Mountain West action on the road this week against Utah State on Friday and Boise State on Sunday.
