Four members of the Wyoming Cowgirl Tennis Team, Alma Espinosa, Christa Gecheva, Dorottya Jonas and Magdalena Stencel, were recognized on Wednesday as the Mountain West announced the 2015 All-Conference Team. The MW awards are selected by the league's 11 head coaches.

"All four of these young women deserve this recognition," head coach Dean Clower said. "Magdalena and Dorottya are both excellent players and there isn't a match this year they haven't put it all out on the court. For Alma and Christa, there are not two individuals who have worked harder for this award. The past four years, they have been the hardest workers, best teammates and Cowgirl tough. Now they will be forever in the record books in MW and school history. Selfishly, I wish more awards were given out because as a coach every individual on this team especially Jessica (Parizher) and Silviya (Zhelyazkova) also deserve to come away with something. In my heart and the Cowgirl record books, they will forever be there."

Espinosa and Gecheva were selected to the All-Conference Doubles Team for the first time in their careers, while Jonas and Stencel were named First Team All-Conference in singles play. Jonas was an All-League selection in doubles last season while this is a first such honor for Stencel. It's the seventh straight year that the Cowgirl Tennis program has been recognized in either singles or doubles.

Jonas is currently 19-14 in singles play, going 9-7 this spring. A sophomore from Gyal, Hungary, she posted a 3-1 mark in MW action at the number three singles spot. Jonas ranks 21st in doubles wins with 37 and 24th with 36 singles victories.

Stencel, a redshirt freshman from Sopot, Poland, has posted a 17-12 overall record and a 10-7 mark this spring from the number one singles position. She went 2-2 in league action and earned MW Player of the Week honors for matches played March 16-22.

Seniors Espinosa and Gecheva have an overall doubles mark of 9-4 this spring. Playing at the number one position, the duo finished with a 3-1 mark in MW action and have won their last three of four matches. Gecheva ranks 15th all-time in doubles wins with 45 while Espinosa is 24th with 31.

The Cowgirls, who are seeded fifth, open up the 2015 MW Tournament against the fourth seeded San Diego State Aztecs. The match is set for Friday beginning at 9 a.m. MT at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium in Albuquerque.
