A recap of day one: The Cowgirl tennis team opened up their first dayof competition at the UTSA Invitational, on Friday, in San Antonio,Texas.

Five Cowgirls started off the tournament on a good note by goingundefeated in singles play. Senior Yuliani Santi defeated Elysia Sloanof UT Pan Am in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and Tina Klemenc of TexasState, 7-6, 6-2, while sophomore Patricia Chien earned two victories bydefeating Medeja Egic of Lee College, 6-3, 6-2, and Melanie Hall ofTexas State in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Both Amy Senko and AndreaHouse earned victories on the day. Senko defeated Katie Felder ofTexas State, 6-3, 6-1, and was set to play Jaime Doty of Tyler JC in alater match. House earned wins over Celena Cortez of Laredo JC, 6-0,6-0 and Ana Paula Soto of Texas San Antonio. In her only match of theday, sophomore Gwen Moser defeated Laura Gomez of Texas State,7-5, 6-2.

In other singles play, Jennifer Hancock rebounded with a 6-2, 6-0win against Angelica Padilla of Tyler JC after falling to Brooke Mills ofTyler JC, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 earlier in the day. Sophomore Megan Williamswon her opening match, 6-0, 6-0, against Kelsey Gist of Texas A&M-CorpusChristi, but came up short in the semifinal match againstMargaret Potyrala of Texas State, 6-1, 6-1. Finally, freshman KarolinaRowinski fell short in her match against Catalina Castillo of Tyler JC inthree sets, 6-1,1-6, 6-2.

In doubles play, Wyoming went 3-1 on the day. The team ofHancock and Santi won 8-3 over Hedinger and Pena of UT Pan Am asdid Megan Williams and Andrea House over the team of Janak andSchneider of Lee College. Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien earnedan 8-0 win over Ortiz and Montiel of Laredo JC, unfortunately GwenMoser and Amy Senko fell 9-8 to Shelly and Sandoval of Lee College.A recap of day two: The Wyoming tennis team wrapped up fall playon Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.

In singles flight one, Patricia Chien won her finals match overNadezda Rossikhina of UTSA by default. Freshman Karolina Rowinksiwon her consolation semifinal match in two sets, 6-0, 7-6, over LaurenJanak of Lee College and her consolation final match against GillianDerksen of Texas State, 6-1, 6-0. Another freshman Amy Senko won bothher matches with victories over Jamie Doty of Tyler JC, 6-1, 6-3, and herown teammate Andrea House, 7-6, 6-3, in the finals of flight five. Theother Cowgirl to win her only match of the day was Megan Williamsearning a 6-2, 6-2 win over Barbara Mooney of UTSA.

In flight two singles, Yuliani Santi lost a tough three set match,4-6, 6-1, 6-2, against Tasja Fuhrig of UTSA, while sophomore GwenMoser rebounded with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Celina Gomez of Texas Stateafter falling to Jenny Sandoval of Lee College, 6-2, 6-0 earlier in theday.

In doubles play, the team of Yuliani Santi and Jen Hancock went2-0 on the day. They earned a win over Egic and Gomez of LeeCollege, 8-5, and an 8-3 victory against Klemenc and Hall of TexasState, 8-3. After falling in their semifinal match to Sirola and Potyralaof Texas State, 8-1, the team of Patricia Chien and Karolina Rowinskidefeated Brown and Wieding of Tyler JC, 8-3. That was also the casefor the team of Megan Williams and Andrea House as they fell toDerksen and Felder of Texas State, 9-8, but came back with an 8-1 winover Schmidt and Gist of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The final doublesteam of Amy Senko and Megan Williams defeated the team ofGonzales and Gonzales from UTSA, 8-3, but fell in their final match,8-3 to Gomez and Gomez of Texas State.

Up next for the Cowgirls: The Wyoming tennis has wrapped up play forthe fall after this weekends competition. They will be back in action onSunday Feb. 1, 2004 as they host the Denver Pioneers at the CheyenneTennis Center.
