David Simon will be begining his second season as an assistant coach at the University of Wyoming in 1998. Simon comes to Wyoming from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he served as an assistant coach for the past three years. Prior to his position at Virginia Tech, he was an assistant coach at Columbia Heights High School in Columbia Heights, Minn. "I am thoroughly pleased that David has accepted this position," stated Judge. "David brings a wealth of recruiting knowledge and technical training to Wyoming, and his personality will mesh well with mine to provide a good coaching staff for our program."
Prior to being named an assistant coach at Virginia Tech, Simon was a graduate assistant at VTU for two seasons. He also was an assistant coach at Columbia Heights High School from 1989-91. During the 1989 season, Columbia Heights was ranked No. 1 in the country for high school volleyball.
"I am tremendously excited about becoming a coach at Wyoming," said Simon. "This is a great opportunity for me, and I hope that I will be able to help revive the pride and success of Wyoming volleyball."
Simon is married to the former Kathy Sahotsky. They have three sons, Jason (15), Mathew (13), and Gregory (two months).
