Cowgirl Volleyball Finishes Out Weekend With A Victory

LARAMIE, Wyo. - WYOMING at Texas-Arlington - Wyoming 3-2 - Box Score

The University of Wyoming CowgirlVolleyball Team finished out their weekend on a high note with a 3-2victory over UT-Arlington in Texas on Monday afternoon.

The Cowgirls would rally from an 0-2 (10-15, 10-15) deficit, andcomeback to take the final three games, 15-13, 15-11, 15-12. For thevictory, the Cowgirls had to come from behind in each of the gamesincluding a 13-7 score in the third game and 10-6 in the fourth.

Senior Jamie Burke (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) was the spark for theteam as she finished with 20 kills, 14 digs, two block solos and twoblock assists. With a match and season high .536 hitting percentage,Melody Friehauf (Windsor, Colo.) finished with 15 kills and threeblocks.

"I was pleased with Jamie Burke's performance. She led our team with 20kills, hit .326, and defensively had 14 digs. We couldn't ask much morefrom her, and when the game was on the line she stepped it up. MelodyFriehauf also had a nice performance. Her blocking, along with BarbieBragg's, really came through.

Overall, the Cowgirls had 64 kills, 57 digs and hit .241 for the match.They also had a big day in the blocking department finishing with 14total team blocks.

"We started to shut them down, which really shifted the momentumtowards us. The character we showed in coming back down 0-2, and provingthey could win was something I was proud of."

Wyoming improves to 2-3 overall with the victory. They will travel toMilwaukee this weekend to participate in the UW-Milwaukee PantherInvitational.
