In the first match of the season, the Cowgirls faced the Denver Pioneers. They would start off slowly in the match falling behind in every game, and would never regain their composure losing the match 3-0. The Cowgirls were led by junior middle blocker Melody Friehauf, who finished the match with six kills, six digs and two block assists.

In the first match of the Wake Forest Deacon Invite, the Cowgirls defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts, 3-0. Junior middle blocker Melody Friehauf led the Cowgirls with 13 kills, three blocks and hit .435 for the match. Wyoming as a team hit .253 for the match along with 41 kills and 10 total team blocks in the victory.

Wyoming faced the host school Wake Forest in the second match of the weekend. Wake Forest led by Margaret Davidson defeated the Cowgirls 15-3, 15-2, 15-11. Junior outside hitter Barbie Bragg finished the match with eight kills, and hit .238.

The Cowgirls would try to rebound against rival Montana State on Saturday. They would fall behind early losing the first two games 15-12, 15-10. The Cowgirls rebounded in the third game 15-13. Unfortunately, they couldn't complete the comeback in the fourth game losing 15-13 and 3-1 in the match. Sophomore middle blocker Rachel Lau had a career high 16 kills and 11 digs.

In the final match of the weekend, Wyoming faced William & Mary. The Cowgirls defeated the Tribe 3-0. Freshman outside hitter Michele Keller finished the match with a career high eight kills, four digs and two service aces. Melody Friehauf also added eleven kills and hit .563.
