The University of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team lost a tough five-set battle, 3-2, to San Diego State (9-5 overall, 1-1 Mountain West), on Thursday in the UniWyo Sports Complex in Laramie. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 11-5 overall and 0-2 in the MW. Wyoming played in its second five-set match of the season and the loss drops it to 1-1 in those matches.

"We made some critical errors toward the end of the match and that is what decided it tonight," Cowgirl head coach Carrie Yerty said. "We have to be able to bounce back after some mistakes like that and we didn't tonight. We had two great teams battle it out tonight and unfortunately we were not the one to come out on top. I cannot be upset with the fact that we competed hard, we blocked great, but I would like to see our offense be a little more diverse."

Leading the Cowgirls was senior Jodi Purdy who recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 10 digs while adding 18 total points. Purdy also tied a match high with two service aces. Sophomore Erin Kirby was second in points with 13 total on nine kills and eight block assists.
