Cowgirls Fall to 16th Ranked Utes

Despite a hard fought battle, theWyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team fell victim to the 16th ranked Utah Uteson Friday night in Laramie.

In game one, the Utes took an early lead and never look back, takingthe game 15-10. The Cowgirls pulled out a big upset in game two with a15-13 after coming back from a 7-1 deficit. Games three and four didn'tfair as well as poor hitting plagued Wyoming in the final two games.Utah would win 15-2, 15-5 to win the match in four games.

"The nature of volleyball is that each team continue to makeadjustments to make it competitive," said head coach Susan Judge. "Inthe first and second games, we forced Utah out of what they wanted todo. We made the adjustments and making the play when it was time.Unfortunately in the third and fourth games, we weren't making theadjustments. But I was proud of the intensity that we came out with, andexecuted a game plan. We just need to continue to do that in the latergames."

Outside hitter Lenka Urbanova finished the night with 12 kills, ninedigs and hit .440 to lead the Utes. As a team, they finished with 53kills and 12 total team blocks.

Wyoming finished the night with 52 kills and nine total team digs.Jamie Burke notched 13 kills and 16 digs to lead the way for theCowgirls.

The Cowgirls are now 6-11 overall and 0-2 in the Mountain WestConference. They will host the Brigham Young Cougars tomorrow night at7:00 p.m.
