The University of Wyoming volleyball team suffered a tough Mountain West Conference road loss at UNLV on Saturday night, losing three games to none at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nev.
With the loss the Cowgirls fall to .500 on the season with an 8-8 record and a 2-4 MWC mark. UNLV improves to 13-5 overall and are 4-2 in MWC play.
The Cowgirls dropped the first game of the match 30-20, the second game 30-28 and the final game 30-19. With the win UNLV has now won four straight matches.
The Cowgirls were led offensively by junior Angie Hellbaum who finished with eight kills. Senior Andrea Seele and freshman Jess Srajer each finished with seven kills. Seven kills marked a career high for Srajer. Defensively, sophomore Samantha Eley led the Cowgirls with 14 digs while sophomore Tasha Weishahn finished with 12 digs. Weishahn also led the Cowgirls with 25 assists.
The Cowgirls return home next weekend to continue MWC play against BYU amd Utah. They will host BYU on Thursday night and Utah on Saturday night. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. at the UniWyo Sports Complex. Each game will be available via live streamed video on wyomingathletics.com.
