The Wyoming CowgirlVolleyball Team (7-7 overall, 2-3 in the MWC) recorded their secondconference win of the season with a three game victory (30-19, 33-31,30-19) over the Air Force Academy Falcons (1-12 overall, 0-6 in theMWC).
Air Force started out strong taking the early 7-4 lead on the Cowgirls.But, Wyoming would rally by going on an 11-0 scoring run to take a 15-7advantage. The Falcons tried to rally, but could only pull as close as15-12, and the Cowgirls would take the game 30-19.
The Cowgirls gained the advantage from the beginning in game two, butcouldn't get a lead bigger than two or three points. The Falcons tooktheir first lead of the game at 23-24, and from that point it would goback and forth between the two. Finally, Wyoming would take the game,33-31, and a 2-0 lead in the match.
In game three, the Cowgirls took the lead 7-2, but the Falcons cameback and closed the gap to 7-6. With the score at 12-10, the Cowgirlswould go on an 18-10 run to close out the match.
The Falcons were led by Delavane Diaz, who finished with a team high 13kills and five digs. Air Force hit .170 (38-20-106) on the evening andrecorded three total team blocks.
Four players had double-figure kill matches, including sophomore SaraMaytorena who had 12 kills and hit .500. The Cowgirls hit .389(57-15-108) and had eight total team blocks.
"This was a nice hitting night for us," said head coach Susan Steadman."It's great to see four of our athletes hit above .400, along with eightblocks, an area we have been struggling in. I'm very proud of being backon a winning note, and handling this match in three games."
Wyoming will now travel to New Mexico to take on the Lobos tomorrownight at 7:00 p.m., in Albuquerque.
