LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team (14-8 overall, 4-3 MW) rebounded with a three set victory (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) over the New Mexico Lobos (10-9 overall, 3-4 MW) on Saturday night in Laramie.
"The team played great. I'm so proud of the way they battled and never let New Mexico get back into the match," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "This is the first we've beat New Mexico as a staff and they're a very good team. There are a group of teams in the Mountain West that are evenly matched, so you have to bring your A game every night. Our setters were dynamite and ran a great offense, which helped our outside hitters. Becky Stewart played a good defensive role, plus we served exceptional."
Outside hitter Jodi Purdy led the way with 17 kills and ten digs, while hitting .405 (17-2-37) for the match. Calli Miller added seven kills and 11 digs, while two other players added six kills. Wyoming hit .373 (43-5-102) for the match and out blocked the Lobos, 10-4.
