LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Cowgirls went 0-1 over the last weekend, as they were defeated by the Colorado State Rams.
The Cowgirls started off the match slow as the Rams would score the first 13 points before allowing Wyoming to score. The Rams would take the first game 15-1.
Game two looked very similar, as the Rams jumped out to take a 9-2 lead. The Cowgirls would try to make a run getting the score as close as 8-12, but CSU was too tough as they would win game two 15-8.
The Cowgirls came out fired up in game three with Wyoming taking a 10-3 lead. CSU would score just three more points, and the Cowgirls would take game three 15-6.
The Cowgirls would take a 5-0 lead in game four and looked like they could make a comeback. Unfortunately, they didn't quite have the energy, as the Rams would go on an 8-0 run to take the lead 8-5. Wyoming would make a small comeback to tie the score at eight all, but it was all CSU after that, as they would go on a 7-1 run to take the game 15-9 and the match 3-1. Offensively, the Cowgirls were led by senior outside hitter Jami Laya, who tallied a team high 12 kills and added seven digs. Defensively, Melody Friehuaf had eight block assissts. As a team the Cowgirls had 49 kills, hit .151 and had 17 total team blocks.
The Cowgirls are now 9-9 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
