Cowgirls Swept By Utah Volleyball

The Wyoming Cowgirl VolleyballTeam closed out their weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Utah Utes.

The Cowgirls fell behind early in the match and good never regain theirfooting. They fell 15-3, 15-7 to go down 0-2 in the match. They put up afight in game three taking a 7-4 early lead. Unfortunately, the Uteswere too much as they would go onto win the game 15-12 and the match3-0.

Utah was led by Jen Snow-Richards, who finished the night with 14 killsand a .619 hitting percentage. The Utes hit .252 on the night, and outdug the Cowgirls 59 to 32.

Senior Melody Friehauf notched five kills and two blocks on the night.The Cowgirls could only manage 25 kills and a .065 hitting percentage.

"It was really a mixture of good passing, and not a whole lot else,"said head coach Susan Judge. "We had a hard time putting the ball away,and there was no excuse for it. We basically played unprepared, eventhough we everything right going into the match, we just didn't executeour knowledge or play with any intensity. Utah came out with a lot ofenergy and took it to us. We really didn't do anything to stop that,even though we competed more in the third game. "

Wyoming now drops to 9-18 overall and 1-9 in the Mountain WestConference. They will host New Mexico and Air Force this weekend.
