The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Teamearned their second Mountain West Conference win of the season with avictory over the Air Force Academy on Friday night in Laramie.
The Cowgirls jumped out early lead in the first game going up 10-0before the Falcons even scored a point. They would go onto take the game15-5. Wyoming kept the momentum going in the second game taking a 5-1lead. But the Falcons fought back tieing the score at six all. Theystayed with the Cowgirls point for point, but with the score tied at 13Wyoming would finish the game off 15-13. Game three looked like AirForce's game as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead. The Cowgirls had acomeback in them to take the lead at 8-7, and never let go. They wouldwin the game 15-10 and the match 3-0.
The Cowgirls were led by senior Barbie Bragg, who finished the nightwith 17 kills, no errors and a .586 hitting percentage. They finishedthe night with 52 kills and 15 blocks. "We accomplished one of ourgoals tonight in beating the Falcons in three games," said head coachSusan Judge. "The team came out and really executed, and Barbie Bragghad a fantastic night offensively. You can't ask anymore than 17 kills,no hitting errors and a .586 hitting percentage. I think Michele Rautercontinues to pass the ball well, which puts us in a position to run ouroffense more consistently. Along with Melody Friehauf and Rachel Lau,who had excellent nights blocking. Defensively, I think we played betteroff the net than on, but we did what needed to get done in order to winthe match."
Wyoming moves their record to 10-18 overall and 2-9 in the conference.They will host New Mexico tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in their finalhome match of the season.
