"It was nice to pick up another road win," head coach Chad Callihan said. "That is something we emphasized and I'm proud of the team for taking more pride playing away from home. San José State is a gritty defensive team and I thought we did a good job matching their intensity and talking through plays."

The Spartans were led by Tyanna Roy with a team-high ten kills, plus six digs and a .276 (10-2-29) hitting percentage. Nandyala Gama had eight kills and Yavianliz Rosado finished with a team-high 12 digs.

San José State scored five of the first eight points to take an early lead 5-3 to begin the match. The Cowgirls responded with 7-2 run to pull ahead by three, 10-7. Three unanswered points by the Spartans tied up it and the teams traded scores for the next four points. With it all even at 12, a kill by Beach started a 7-3 run to give UW a four-point advantage, 19-15. San José State chipped away at the deficit and closed the gap to 23-21, but the Cowgirls recorded back-to-back kills to win set one, 25-21.

In the second set, the Spartans gained a 5-3 early advantage. Wyoming scored four of the next five points to take its first lead of the set, 7-6. Two straight points gave SJSU the lead back 8-7, but the Cowgirls responded with a 9-3 run to go up five, 16-11. A kill by Breann Robinson ended the scoreless stretch for the Spartans and they closed the gap to four, 18-14. The Cowgirls ran off the final seven of eight points to win the set, 25-15 to go up 2-0 in the match.

The momentum shifted over to the side of San José State in the third set as it took a 5-1 lead, which was increased to 12-6. An attack error by the Spartans got the Cowgirls back in the scoring column. With the score 15-12 in favor of SJSU, the Cowgirls went on a 10-3 run to give them a four-point lead, 22-18. Out of a timeout, the Spartans scored the next two points, but Wyoming closed out the set, 25-21, and the match 3-0.
