The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will play in their final spring tournament on Tuesday, April 12. The matches are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex. Besides the Cowgirls, Air Force, LCCC and Western Wyoming will also participate.
"This tournament will conclude our spring tournament season," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "The players are excited to finish strong. We had a solid spring and worked diligently in building a new team identity. We will use what we've learned in order to prepare for the 2011 season."
In the five team format, which includes a split UW squad, each team will play two sets with scoring to 21 points or a 50 minute time limit. The Wyoming team is scheduled to play Air Force at 3:30 p.m., LCCC at 4:30 p.m., the Cowgirls at 5:30 p.m. and Western Wyoming at 6:30 p.m. The Cowgirl team will be in action against Western Wyoming at 3:30 p.m., Wyoming at 5:30 p.m. and LCCC to close things out at 6:30 p.m.
Wyoming is coming off a 22-10 overall campaign and 7-9 Mountain West Conference mark in 2010, while finishing sixth in league play. Fourth year head coach Carrie Yerty welcomes back two starters, including All-MWC selection Jodi Purdy, ten total letterwinners, two redshirts and four newcomers.
