Wyoming Volleyball Continues Spring Play

April 14, 2003

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Cowgirl Volleyball Team continued their spring drills with play in their third tournament at Colorado State, on Saturday, in Ft. Collins, Colo.

Wyoming went 1-2 against their competition, as they opened up the day with a 3-0 victory against the Denver Pioneers. They fell short in two very close three game matches to both Colorado State and Wichita State to close out the tournament.

"Overall we played well, improving in each game throughout the tournament," said head coach Jim Barnes. "It was the first spring tournament for Michele Rauter to play in and she did very well leading the team in kills along with Sara Maytorena. The match against CSU was a very good one as we had match point in game three but failed to convert. The key for us is to continue to improve defensively including our blocking. If we do, than we will be able to beat the top competition in our league."

The team will continue their spring practices over the next couple of weeks, and will wrap up drills by hosting a spring tournament on April 26.
