Cowgirl Volleyball Set To Host Spring Tournament

April 15, 2010

Laramie, Wyo. - The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will play in its final spring tournament as they will host two teams on Saturday, April 17, in the UniWyo Sports Complex. Besides the Cowgirls, Air Force and Northern Colorado will also participate.

"I think having this spring tournament in correlation with our banquet is a nice way to wrap up the season," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "I've seen a tremendous amount of growth both as a unit and individually during the spring. The team has really meshed well together which comes with experience."

The Cowgirls are scheduled to play Air Force at 12:30 p.m., Northern Colorado at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. In the four team format, which includes a split UNC squad, each team will play two sets with scoring to 25 points or a one hour time limit.

Wyoming is coming off a 13-18 campaign in 2009 and finished eighth in the Mountain West Conference. Third year head coach Carrie Yerty welcomes back all six starters, three redshirts and three newcomers, including MWC Freshman of the Year Jodi Purdy.
