LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team wrapped up their spring practices with a tournament on Tuesday, April 12, in Laramie. With a split squad the Wyoming team went 3-0, while the Cowgirl team completed the day with a 2-1 mark overall.
Over the last several weeks, UW has participated in three spring tournament dates. They had a solid outing at Colorado with wins over CU and UNC, while the previous week they played with a split squad at Northern Colorado.
"We had a great spring and it was a learning experience," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "The team had to work hard and form a team identity with the loss of some key seniors. We improved each week and established a good core. We will look forward to a break then getting ready for the fall competition."
The Cowgirls are scheduled to open up the 2011 season on Friday, Aug. 26, as they host the UniWyo Wyoming Invite. Fourth year head coach Carrie Yerty welcomes back two starters, including All-MWC selection Jodi Purdy, ten total letterwinners, two redshirts and four newcomers.
