UW Volleyball's Reese Plante selected to play on All-Star Team

Former Cowgirl middle blocker Reese Plante will represent Wyoming as a member of the Mountain West Global all-star team that will travel to Europe this summer. The dates of competition will be July 8-19, 2014, and will be led by San Diego State women's volleyball coach and 2012 MW Coach of the Year Deitre Collins-Parker.

She is one of 12 student-athletes that will be a part of a team that will travel to Venice, Italy for two days of training sessions and participate in two more days of friendly matches before competing in the 2014 European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia. From July 13-18, the team will play against Junior National teams from Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia as well as club teams from Italy, Serbia, Austria and Romania. Bring It Promotions, under the ownership of Tim Kelly, is managing the Mountain West all-star trip and has been running the Global Challenge tournament for 10 years. BIP has been coordinating overseas University tours since 1997.

The Mountain West all-star team includes two setters, one libero, four middle blockers and five outside hitters from eight of the 11 MW member institutions. New Mexico's Julia Warren is one of three team members named All-Mountain West last season. Warren, the 2013 MW Freshman of the Year, is joined by Conference honorees Kelsey Snider of Colorado State and Hanah Blume of San José State. Assisting Collins-Parker on the coaching staff is New Mexico assistant coach JJ Glavan.

From Ft. Collins, Colo., Plante recently completed her senior season for the Cowgirls. She played in 33 matches this past season and averaged 2.75 kills and a .275 (335-93-881) hitting percentage. A four-year starter, she finished with 906 kills and 440 blocks for her career. Plante was a four-time Academic All-Mountain West selection along with earning MW Scholar-Athlete honors.
