LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team wrapped up spring practices on Saturday afternoon, April 20, by hosting six matches in the UniWyo Sports Complex.
"I'm very pleased with how we ended our spring practices and competitions," said head coach Carrie Yerty. "Overall, we experienced tremendous growth as a team and really improved in our blocking and transition game. We are looking forward to what the coming fall will bring."
With a full squad competing, the team went 1-1-1. They would open up the day with a 25-18, 19-25 split against Colorado. Unfortunately, the Cowgirls fell in two sets, 25-21, 25-18, to Nebraska-Kearney, but rallied with a 25-22, 25-22 win over the Northern Colorado Bears.
On the weekend, Calli Miller finished with a team high 14 kills (2.33 kps), while hitting .388 (14-4-36) over the three matches. Katherine Feldman and Reese Plante each followed with 12 kills each, while hitting .480 (12-3-25) and .500 (12-5-24) respectively.
Wyoming competed in three tournaments over the spring season. They hosted this past weekend, while being on the road at Northern Colorado and Colorado State over the last several weeks.
The Cowgirls are scheduled to open up the 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 30, as they host the UniWyo Wyoming Invite. Sixth year head coach Carrie Yerty welcomes back four starters, including two-time All-MW selection Erin Kirby, nine total letterwinners, two redshirts and five newcomers.
