LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team fared extremely well over the weekend as they completed their spring training in Seattle, Wash.
The Cowgirls went 2-0 against their competition. In a four game format, they defeated Northwest College (Kirkland, Wash.) and Seattle University (Seattle, Wash.). They also had the opportunity to train with the national champion Washington Huskies.
"It was tremendous to be able to train with a team that has similar offensive and defensive systems," said head coach Pat Stangle. "To compete against a team of the caliber of the University of Washington really reinforced what we need to do in order to get to that level.
"Overall, I felt the spring went as expected," he added. "We improved in several areas that we concentrated on and seemed to get better in every game we played."
Third year head coach Pat Stangle and the Cowgirls will open up the 2006 regular season on Aug. 25-26 at the Texas State Tournament in San Marcos, Texas. They will start things off at home the following weekend as they host the Cowgirl Classic on Sept. 1-2.
