Cowgirl Volleyball Closes Out Spring Drills

April 29, 2003

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team closed out spring drills this past weekend by hosting four matches, on Saturday April 26, in the MultiPurpose Gym.

The weekend matches were part of a spring tournament that featured other college volleyball teams from Adams State, Denver, Nebraska-Kearney, and Western Nebraska Community College.

The Cowgirls opened up the day falling to Nebraska-Kearney, but rebounded with two victories over Western Nebraska and Adams State. They closed out the weekend with a close loss to Denver.

"We really focused on defense and looked at some different line-ups over the weekend," said head coach Jim Barnes. "We weren't as consistent as I would have liked but the effort was good and the defensive side continues to improve. "

Head coach Jim Barnes and the Wyoming Cowgirls will open the 2003 regular season on August 29 and 30 at the Baylor Classic in Waco, Texas. They will open up their home schedule by hosting the Cowgirl Classic on Sept. 5 and 6.
