UW Volleyball Adds Tamara Kitic to Recruiting Class

University of Wyoming head volleyball coach Carrie Yerty announced one addition to this year's recruiting class with the signing of Tamara Kitic to attend UW beginning in the fall of 2010.

Kitic, who is from Nis, Serbia, is transferring in from Lee College and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"Tamara is an experienced rightside player that can swing on either the right or left," said Yerty. "She was a very recognized player at the community college level, and will add experience and leadership to our Cowgirl squad. She is a tremendous server and strong blocker, along with being a great student and hard worker. We are very excited to have her."

Tamara Kitic, 6-4, Rightside Hitter, Nis, Serbia (Lee College):

A two-time letterwinner at Lee College in Baytown, Texas. This past season, she led her team to a 17-13 record overall, a 7-3 mark in the Region XIV Athletic Conference, and a second place finish at the Region XIV Tournament. She was also named First Team All-Region XIV Conference, while averaging 3.88 kills, 2.04 digs and 0.63 blocks. During her freshman campaign, she led the team in service aces with 36, while adding 73 total blocks (0.79 bps) and 214 kills (2.30 kps). The team finished 16-11 overall, 6-4 in conference play and qualified for the Regional Tournament. An excellent student, she received the Class Act Award as a freshman. Kitic was coached by Tracie Johnson while at Lee.

Kitic is the fourth student-athlete to join the Cowgirls for the 2010 season as they added three during the fall. The others include Rachel Keyes (S/LIB, 5-7, Lakewood, Colo.), Erin Kirby (MB/OPP, 6-0, Evanston, Wyo.) and Becky Stewart (5-7, Libero, Parker, Colo.).
