Judge Announces Hiring Of Assistant Coach

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming head volleyballcoach Susan Judge announced today the hiring of Phuong Luong as anassistant coach with the Cowgirl volleyball program. His hiring issubject to UW Board of Trustee approval.

Luong joins the Wyoming staff after spending two seasons as anassistant coach at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. During thattime, he was also the head coach of the Wentworth Institute ofTechnology men's volleyball program. He coached the team to a 32-17record over those two seasons, plus a 14th place final ranking in theAVCA Division III poll in 2000. Prior to Northeastern, Luong was anassistant with the University of New Hampshire and helped coordinate theNew Hampshire Seacoast Junior Olympic Volleyball Program.

As an undergraduate, he played four years on the Ferris State men'sclub team. Luong is a graduate of Ferris State University, earning abachelor's degree in business management from there in 1995.

"Phuong comes from Northeastern University, a program that is comingoff two 20-plus win seasons, and has been a big part of building theirsuccess," Judge said. "I think he gained valuable experience indeveloping success in that program, and will provide a lot of energycoming to Wyoming."
